What is Kyoto Intercollegiate Festa?

It is a festival which is planned and operated by students in Kyoto who go to different universities and colleges to spread the charm of Kyoto. The festival has been held in October at the front of Heian Shrine and the area of Okazaki Promenade since 2003. Over one hundred thousand people visit to the festival every year. Kyoto city is known as “Student town”. There are over 30 universities, colleges and junior colleges in Kyoto city, and about ten percent of population in Kyoto city is students.

Such environment makes us easily unite and produce the festival on our own. Kyoto Intercollegiate Festa marks the 18th anniversary this year. We aim to create a festival loved by people of all age in Kyoto by working in close cooperation with community, companies and governmental administrations. We fascinate more than a million people with food, music, dance, sport and art through the festival.

We pursue creativity and uniqueness of Kyoto Intercollegiate Festa with dynamism and diversity brought by “Student Town”.
